Ryan's surgery

As you have probably heard, Ryan had surgery on Monday to remove his tonsils and adenoids and insert tubes in his ears.  He has had 6 ear infections, strep throat and a handful of cases of croup- in 2011 alone.  The poor kid was always sick.  We are hopeful that Ryan will be healthier after this.

Guest photographer today is Jason with his cell phone's camera.  Not a great photo but it gets the idea across.  We were playing Hi Ho Cherry-O before bed on Monday night at the hospital.

The surgery was very quick.  Because he is younger than 3 years old and weighs less than 30 pounds, he was considered "high risk" and required an overnight stay at the hospital.  We came home after breakfast on Tuesday.  He is doing well- as long as he has his pain medication.  I can tell about 30 minutes before he's allowed the next dose as he starts to fade and get very crabby.  Poor little guy is in a lot of pain.  Still.

At dinner last night, I gave him the choice of applesause or yogurt for dinner.  He replied he wanted food.  (First time that's ever come out of his mouth, let me tell you!)  Luckily Grandma Lyn had some GF mac n' cheese leftover.  He actually ate it, too!  He slept through the night last night without waking from the pain.  Of course, this morning was really rough with 11 hours since his last pain med.  So I'm trying to keep on top of that even though it's a battle to get him to take it.  It hurts his throat.

Ryan is definitely on the mend.  Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time in our lives.

If I don't get to another post between now and then, Merry Christmas!

More photos

These photos are from my cousins' photo session.  It was a lot of fun.  Her little guy has been well trained to be photogenic.  He was fun to work with!

Time to decorate!

Last Thursday night we all went to pick out this year's Christmas tree.  We like to go to Home Depot.  It's not the most festive but their prices are very reasonable.  It's become a tradition.  When we got home, we made hot chocolate and went to work decorating.  The boys tried to help but ended up watching old Christmas cartoons on Netflix instead.  Logan drained his first (ever) hot chocolate and wanted more.  Surprising, considering his sweet tooth isn't very active.  It was a fun evening.

Belated Thanksgiving Feast

***Somehow this post didn't make it up on the blog.  So here it is- even more belated.

Logan's preschool class had a Thanksgiving Feast the week before Thanksgiving.  It was a mix of chocolate Cheerios, Skittles, Candy Corn, pretzels and Kix cereal.  (Ryan brought his own snack, of course.)  The kids had made hats and were wearing them to the celebration.  The kids took turns saying their favorite food to eat on Thanksgiving.  Logan said turkey.  (Now I think he'd say pie- pumpkin or apple.)

I love how much the parents and siblings get to be involved with the preschool activities.

A fun family

I've been so busy editing photo sessions that I haven't done a post in awhile.  Things are finally starting to wind down a little so here are a few of my favorites of my friend's family.  Her kids are beautiful!!!

They were up for anything- so fun!

Beautiful sisters!

Their little guy LOVES his lizards and his boots.  We did several shots with them.  This is one of my favorites.

Dr Suess breakfast

Can you tell which book is popular at our house right now?

Yup, it's Green Eggs & Ham.  Don't adjust your screen, I dyed Logan's eggs.  He gobbled them right up and wanted more this morning.  Thank you, Dr Suess, for helping green food go down easier.

One can find the most random things in a park at 7:30 in the morning...
