Ryan's surgery

As you have probably heard, Ryan had surgery on Monday to remove his tonsils and adenoids and insert tubes in his ears.  He has had 6 ear infections, strep throat and a handful of cases of croup- in 2011 alone.  The poor kid was always sick.  We are hopeful that Ryan will be healthier after this.

Guest photographer today is Jason with his cell phone's camera.  Not a great photo but it gets the idea across.  We were playing Hi Ho Cherry-O before bed on Monday night at the hospital.

The surgery was very quick.  Because he is younger than 3 years old and weighs less than 30 pounds, he was considered "high risk" and required an overnight stay at the hospital.  We came home after breakfast on Tuesday.  He is doing well- as long as he has his pain medication.  I can tell about 30 minutes before he's allowed the next dose as he starts to fade and get very crabby.  Poor little guy is in a lot of pain.  Still.

At dinner last night, I gave him the choice of applesause or yogurt for dinner.  He replied he wanted food.  (First time that's ever come out of his mouth, let me tell you!)  Luckily Grandma Lyn had some GF mac n' cheese leftover.  He actually ate it, too!  He slept through the night last night without waking from the pain.  Of course, this morning was really rough with 11 hours since his last pain med.  So I'm trying to keep on top of that even though it's a battle to get him to take it.  It hurts his throat.

Ryan is definitely on the mend.  Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time in our lives.

If I don't get to another post between now and then, Merry Christmas!

More photos

These photos are from my cousins' photo session.  It was a lot of fun.  Her little guy has been well trained to be photogenic.  He was fun to work with!

Time to decorate!

Last Thursday night we all went to pick out this year's Christmas tree.  We like to go to Home Depot.  It's not the most festive but their prices are very reasonable.  It's become a tradition.  When we got home, we made hot chocolate and went to work decorating.  The boys tried to help but ended up watching old Christmas cartoons on Netflix instead.  Logan drained his first (ever) hot chocolate and wanted more.  Surprising, considering his sweet tooth isn't very active.  It was a fun evening.

Belated Thanksgiving Feast

***Somehow this post didn't make it up on the blog.  So here it is- even more belated.

Logan's preschool class had a Thanksgiving Feast the week before Thanksgiving.  It was a mix of chocolate Cheerios, Skittles, Candy Corn, pretzels and Kix cereal.  (Ryan brought his own snack, of course.)  The kids had made hats and were wearing them to the celebration.  The kids took turns saying their favorite food to eat on Thanksgiving.  Logan said turkey.  (Now I think he'd say pie- pumpkin or apple.)

I love how much the parents and siblings get to be involved with the preschool activities.

A fun family

I've been so busy editing photo sessions that I haven't done a post in awhile.  Things are finally starting to wind down a little so here are a few of my favorites of my friend's family.  Her kids are beautiful!!!

They were up for anything- so fun!

Beautiful sisters!

Their little guy LOVES his lizards and his boots.  We did several shots with them.  This is one of my favorites.

Dr Suess breakfast

Can you tell which book is popular at our house right now?

Yup, it's Green Eggs & Ham.  Don't adjust your screen, I dyed Logan's eggs.  He gobbled them right up and wanted more this morning.  Thank you, Dr Suess, for helping green food go down easier.

Sneak Peek

I had the honor of photographing my favorite sister-in-law's extended family last Sunday.  I just finished editing and they haven't seen them yet.  But here's a sneak peek.

Ally, Andy, Brody and Maddy

This family loves to have fun and it showed in their photos.  It was a fun session!

Swingin'

I am trying to post more.  I swear.  We'll see how I do, huh?  :)

Yesterday, I was playing with the settings on my camera.  I got a few cute shots of Logan.  He is so happy when he's moving fast.  And I'm so happy when I get a great picture of him with a REAL smile.

He ran around the little apple tree 14 times while Papa Dan counted.

Then he wanted to swing "high as the sky".  (Which means daddy or Papa had to push him.)

Good job, camera.  You stopped the action!

It was a great Thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving!

After two rounds of turkey, stuffing, mashed potates and gravy, buttered rolls and pumpkin pie, I am full.  And probably will be for awhile.  It was so good.  We had a great day with family at my parents' home.  Ryan skipped his nap all together but was happy as a clam until he passed out on Grandma and Grandpa's couch at 7:15.  (For that I am extremely thankful.)  Logan had fun playing with his cousins.  Jason and I chatted it up with the cousins.  But mostly, I was just relaxing and hanging out.

Guest photographer was my dad.  :)

Saturday's photo session

I had so much fun shooting this family.  It was great to see friends I have't seen in awhile.  It's amazing how fast the kids grow.

This was the very first photo from this session and it is definitely one of my favorites.

Sunday's session

Wow!  It's Friday already?!?  This week flew by.  I've been spending most of my "free" time editing photos and working on Photoshop homework.  Jason was in San Jose for business all week.  He got back last night while I was at the Breaking Dawn premiere.  What a nice birthday, huh?  We are going out- just the two of us- tonight to celebrate.  Happy birthday Jason!

This family was so fun.  Here are some of my favorites from the session.

A recent photo shoot

I've been busy!

I have been busy this week.  I'm finishing up the editing on a couple more photo sessions from earlier this week and just finished shooting another.  It's been so much fun and I am learning a lot.  I saw this statue at Desert Breeze park this afternoon while scoping out good spots for photos.  It reminds me of the statues in downtown Mesa.

I can't wait to post some of the images from my recent photo sessions.  But I feel it's only fair to let the people in the pictures see them first.  So you'll just have to wait a little longer...

Tempe Arts Center

Ryan and I went by the Tempe Arts Center this morning.  What a beautiful place for a photo session!    We had a good time walking around the facility.

As we drove over Tempe Town Lake, Ryan yells "Mommy!  Look!  Ocean!"  Apparently we need some water time outside of the swimming pool.  He was so excited to be able to see it close up.

Anxiously awaiting

My cousin, Michelle and her husband, Jeff, are expecting their first baby at the end of the year.  I had the honor of doing their maternity photos at the Mesa Arts Center.  This is the first in a series of photo sessions I have scheduled. Here are a few of my favorites.

It's a GIRL!

Michelle and Jeff were married in the church in the background.
(Jason and I were, too, along with my parents and grandparents.)

More Halloween Fun

Prepping for Halloween at my house.  I had so much fun helping the girls come up with their '80's costumes.  I used to do my hair just like Maddy's in this picture.  They looked so cute!

Obi Wan Kenobi and Batman (the black one, not the red one)

"Show me your sign!"  (Works much better than "smile" with a group of kids)

There's a bat flying in the air!  (With a little help from his Uncle Jeff.)

Candy with Grammie

Even Papa and Grandma were festive  :)

I just love Halloween.  It was so much fun.  And the food's not bad, either.  ;)

And more pumpkins!

Pumpkin carving with Daddy

Logan didn't love the squishy pumpkin guts.  He helped but he wasn't thrilled about it.

Ryan, on the other hand, loved it.  Look at his face.  His arm was as long as the pumpkin was tall.

Halloween's coming!
